Who Am I ???

*My sire was bred in Ireland, my grandsire in France…I was bred in the bluegrass.

*I won exactly half of the million dollar races in which I competed.

*My five stakes victories ranged in distance between a mile and a sixteenth to a mile and a half.

*Well traveled, I raced in four different nations in my four seasons of racing.

*I am all thoroughbred race horse, but I do have a connection to the family Accipitridae.

*Two of my stakes victories came at Hollywood Park, although they were the least important stakes wins of my career.

*Besides horse racing, my favorite sport was ice hockey.

*I raced in four races each worth at least a million dollars, and each of these races came in a different year.

*Both my trainer and my jockey were inducted into racing’s Hall of Fame.

*I never did much in the East Coast; I ran in Maryland, but never in New York.

*Unfortunately, I finished my career on a five race losing streak.

You should know by now … Who Am I ???

Brian, that was the easiest one yet.

Using the "Eagle" clue just gave it away.

Sorry Jay, Billy nailed Golden Pheasant in an unbelievable 2 minutes...I am stunned!

I did not realize it was that easy...Billy, anything else you want to add?

Brian, you need to start picking horses from overseas or something. Billy, fantastic job. Though can the rest of us have a go sometime soon? lol. Brian, we all need a head start or something! lol.

Sorry to hit it so quick. I got it when I red the sire info (Caro is my 2nd favorite so I knew that was him instantly) and the Ice Hockey clue was what had me typing Golden Pheasant without having to search. Awesome horse. Owned by Gretzky and Gretzsky was the cover boy on ESPN magazine when my horse racing tattoo backpiece was in it with a 2 page spread. So I had just too many hunches and connections and love on this one. Yo Marti - LEADER!

next week I'll be busy - so I won't play - how about that? Just holla if no one is getting it.

What are you apologizing for Billy??
Frigging KUDOS...if you know it, fast or otherwise, you know it. And yes, you're now one up on me! LOL

I actually totally forgot about it today...but you'd have beat me on that one anyway; I'd have got it, but not near in time!! Good job!

Brian Zipse said...

Billy, you would not get next week's anyway...I know your weaknesses.

Huntington Equine said...

oh so now it's a challenge Zipse? I'll be draggin the laptop to the dog show. it's on!

Apology was more like an I'm sorry for you not I"m sorry for being me.

haaaaaa

Ok, seriously...why is everyone whining about the fact that Billy nailed it in mere minutes (barely plural)???

LOL, that's the game...Brian lays down the clues, and if you know it, you know it...shouldn't matter if you have to do lengthy research, or you get lucky and it's a horse you know WELL.

So again...Billy, quit apologizing, everyone else congratulate him and stand in awe, LOL...and see ya next week! ;-)

You're beautiful Billy, don't ever change...good luck next week to all!

In Golden Pheasent's last year he was a private purchace by the Japanese. Bruce McNall and Wayne Gretzky (who McNall gave part ownership as part of his NHL contract payment) were out of the business by then.
