*I ran in more than 50 races, winning almost half and finishing in the money 40 times.
*My 17 stakes wins came at eight different racetracks.
*I loved the Windy City, where I had six wins, one second, and one third in only eight starts.
*I never raced at 2-years-old, but I still managed five successful seasons of racing.
*I was named by my owner, not my parents.
*Travel was a big part of my career as I raced at 15 different tracks in nine different states.
*I was never a champion, but I did defeat a multiple Eclipse Award winner.
*Like a fine wine, I improved with age, although I was a stakes winner in five consecutive years.
*I became the 21st member of what, at the time, was a very exclusive club.
*I was ridden by eleven different riders, but only two after I was transferred to Bill.
*I went out a winner and I did it in my favorite city.
You should know by now … Who Am I ???
Is it Fort Prado?
ReplyDeleteSorry, it is not Fort Prado.
ReplyDeleteI think it's Awad
ReplyDeleteNo, not Awad...and not John Henry, as a few have emailed me. Keep the guesses coming on this site folks.
ReplyDeleteDayummm!!! This is why I do research!! Back to the drawing board!
ReplyDeleteWhat does it mean named by my owner not my parents? Does that mean he/she was named after the owner? Obviously his/her parents were horses so they could not have named the horse.
ReplyDeleteErin, Great question...Sometimes to makes these editions of Who Am I ??? a little more challenging, I do tend to obscure the actual clue with a bit of smoke.
ReplyDeleteRound Table? I don't think so, but it's a guess.
ReplyDeleteSorry, no dice on Round Table.
ReplyDeleteSilky Sullivan????
ReplyDeleteCancel that.
ReplyDeleteCan we have a decade?
ReplyDeleteMichael, I am going to hold off giving any hints until a little later in the day. I am confident that someone can get the answer with only the original clues.

Good try Anonymous. Yankee Affair fits with many of the clues, but alas, not all of them.
ReplyDeleteThe correct answer has still not been guessed. This week's edition could go down as the most difficult to date.
T.V. Lark...?
ReplyDeleteNo, not T.V. Lark.
ReplyDeleteHere are some hints:
-Most of the guesses have been male turf horses...these answers are off base on both accounts.
-This horse's 2nd trainer is very famous. The now deceased owner not so much, although his name is a huge clue.
Susan's Girl?
ReplyDeleteErin, did you say Susan's Girl ???
ReplyDeleteSusan's Girl is ... incorrect.
cigar
ReplyDeletebeverly d
ReplyDeleteIt is not Cigar, although the correct answer and Cigar were trained by the same man.
ReplyDeleteLOL, not Beverly D or Beverly Duchossois!
ReplyDeleteSilver Tree?
ReplyDeleteSorry Mandy, we have already established this horse is neither male nor a turf horse.
ReplyDeleteI got nothin'...best guess at this point is Heatherten. Chenin Blanc was a thought, but does not qualify on too many of the clues.
ReplyDeleteKudos Brian, I am not easily stumped when I set to research, LOL...she either flew right past me, or you REALLY went digging!! Either way, I totally give up, LOL
I'm with you Marti. I went all the way back to Regret and can't find anything.
ReplyDeleteIs it Sharp Susan?
ReplyDeleteI'm stumped too, Marti...at this point every time a post shows up I'm just saying...please be right. Now wondering if Brian is being tricky with the male horse part, is it a mare OR a gelding? Study long...study wrong.
ReplyDeleteSefa's Beauty....?
ReplyDeleteyeah!!! Looks good LDP
ReplyDeleteThanks, now if only Brian will confirm. Sheesh, it better be write, I looked up all I could and she seemed to fit the best.
ReplyDeleteHEATHERTON!!! Her rider, Randy Romero
ReplyDeleteIt's not Heatherton, LOL...that was my guess...LDP, I think you've nailed it. Brian ought to award cash on this one, LOL...I'd have NEVER found this horse!
ReplyDeleteSorry, Marti, I missed where you posted Heatherton :)
ReplyDeleteIt's just gotta be one or the other, tho (Heatherton or Sefa's Beauty)!
He mentioned Mott, so I went on wouldn't you guess it Wikipedia. And since his some of his clues knocked out turf and males, and said the horse had raced over fifty times, I was thinking the mare had to be older. Safa fit the discripition in my head, so that was my conculsion.
ReplyDeleteWell done LDP !!! The answer is Sefa's Beauty. Named for her owner Farid Sefa. She became the 21st female millionaire in 1986 and won 25 of her 52 lifetime starts.
ReplyDeleteWow! I actually got one! YAY!!! lol. I tell you what Brian, I was almost ready to call it quits too, but I love that stubborness in me sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWay to go LDP!
